As a man who, on a volunteer basis, writes stories about sexting and refusing to share bacon, it should come as no surprise that I don’t have a lot of money. That being said, I decided to grow up and talk to a financial advisor; what follows is a detailed account of how a massive B-word who is terrible at her job, AKA my financial advisor, accidentally taught me a lesson about gender roles in relationships. Not enough of a lesson to make me feel bad about the B-word comment though, she deserves it.
This story takes place shortly before my most recent break up. I was in a long-term relationship with an older woman and staunch feminist, that being said, our relationship was beyond the parameters of traditional gender roles and all sugar coating aside, she was the man in relationship. Recently I made the conscious decision to start caring about my skin. As a 21 and 3/4 year old man, I have to face the fact that I’m not getting any younger, in fact just the other day I was told I’m too old to add fractions to my age, too old they called me. In addition, my Irish heritage has saddled me with the most sensitive of skin and a propensity to sunburn.

This New Year’s I made a few resolutions, including but not limited to:
- Starting a career in the legal field.
- Resolving my tenuous relationship, for better or for worse.
- Completing P90X, thereby reaching peak physical fitness.
- Maybe participating in a three-way, if there’s time.
I’m researching getting a security license so I can gain some experience that will help me in a policing career. I confronted my girlfriend about her infidelity, ultimately ending my relationship, which I feel was a move in the right direction. Now I’ve got my hands on a copy of P90X, so everything’s falling into place. Except for that three-way thing, but that was just a joke… unless you’re into that. Continue reading
