You may have noticed a new trend arising at the movies this year, a young, attainably-attractive, brunette named Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Starring in movies like (500) Days of Summer and this summer’s sci-fi lover’s dream movie, Inception, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is poised to take not only Hollywood, but also, our hearts.
We developed school-girl crushes on the young actor when we saw him playing Tommy on 3rd Rock from the Sun, or at least we did the day he cut his hair. When the show ended in 2001, his presence waxed and waned in and out of our collective consciousness as he popped up in a series of roles with vague familiarity.
Then came (500) Days of Summer, an (anti-)love story co-staring Zooey Deschanel. Our love was rekindled, with a greater depth of maturity and sincerity than can only come with age. We swoon as we watch him love and loose the perfect girl, in the most hilarious way possible. He bares his many talents as well as an ability to bring romance and comedy together without receiving the tacky and detrimental branding of a “rom com.” Even your boyfriend will enjoy this movie.
His next big hit is Inception, a new classic for both genders of science-fiction lovers. Our love for Joseph Gordon-Levitt turns to lust as watch his intelligent, slickly dressed character steal the scene from the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio. His time and space altered fight scene alone – is to die for. The modern mark of a truly good movie can be found in the capacity in which its followers inundate the internet. Before the movie was released, there was a palpable trickle of anticipatory pre-fan art coming across the Ethernet cable but after the movie hit theatres, there was a flash flood of Inception adoration, and good percentage of it was for Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
He wears a sharp suit, uses guns and could get the girl, if he wanted to. Truly, a new sex symbol is born.
Word on the street is, JGL, as he is commonly abbreviated to, could be in the next Batman movie. This is highly plausible, keeping in mind that the Writer/Director/Producer of the recent Batman movies, Christopher Nolan, is also the Writer/Director/Producer of Inception. Experts speculate he will be playing The Riddler.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is well on his way to becoming one of those rare combinations of sex symbol and respected actor.
