Every so often, a fashion trend emerges so versatile that it does not come with a set of rules. Over time, through trail and serious errors in judgement, an unwritten rule book begins to form. The trouble is, not everyone seems to get a copy of the book. I don’t know if it’s that the people committing fashion atrocities with tights are set in their ways, particularly oblivious to fashion media or perhaps, simply don’t own a full length mirror and their friends are too polite to say anything. The White Wedding Dress
From the original white wedding dress worn by Queen Philippa of England in 1406, to all of the white wedding dresses worn around the western world last weekend, our tastes in wedding dress fashion have been directly influence by our royal role models. Lipstick
A couple of decades ago women didn’t leave home without a generous application of lipstick, today many women my age do without it all together. Lipstick is iconic, just saying the word conjures images of glamour, power and romance. It’s hard to picture a woman like Marilyn Monroe without her famous red lips. The 1950’s are notorious for red lipstick, but they did not give birth to the trend. Continue reading
